Considering that battery life has not improved, CPU performance has not improved, GPU performance has only doubled (while pixel count has quadrupled), AND it's thinner, this is a pretty decent deal for the Wifi model.

Obviously LTE (with good battery life!) has enormous benefits, so the 3G iPad 2 isn't looking so good.

We don't really know what the CPU performance is but they are quoted as saying the GPU performance has quadrupled.

Beyond that though the only real benefit to upgrading from the 2 to the "new" is the camera and screen. I'm still rolling with the original iPad and this isn't enough to make me want to upgrade. Maybe when they show iOS6.

In synthetic benchmarks perhaps, we'd really need to see some real-world benchmarks showing any benefit of the newer faster hardware. Anything beyond higher FPS in games I'm highly skeptical about.

Agreed, there's still only a few games that look better on the iPad 2 and that was a far more significant performance gain than this. Plus the 3rd gen would have four times the pixels to deal with, unless they used upscalling mode.

We are still talking about the iPad 2, not 3, right?

My opinion, which seems to be recurring for apple products. Still over inflated.

    I'd be a buyer at :)
    iPad2 WiFi: $299
    iPad2 3G: $349

Now let's see what Android has to offer.

The iPad 2 has a gray backround while the new iPad has a pretty blue.

It's a bit like the 'before and after photos' selling a beauty product where the before photo shows the person not smiling, or washed out closors, or a bad angle and other things.

Anyway, I thought the new iPad has a significant screen upgrade?
